ING Renault F1 Team participates in the 10-year anniversary celebrations of the Technocentre
Sunday 15 June at 21:40 : The ING Renault F1 Team and Fernando Alonso put on a special demonstration today at the Technocentre in Guyancourt to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of this Renault facility.

The Renault Technocentre was built to enable Renault to compete at the highest level of car design. The large-scale facility houses the latest technology and gives its 11,500 personnel the tools to complete their projects in a modern and productive environment. In total, more than 20 vehicles have been created there since its opening ten years ago.

After several weeks of preparation, the ING Renault F1 Team and Fernando Alonso were in place today and ready to give Renault employees and their families a taste of Formula 1 action as the Technocentre echoed to the sounds of V8 power.

This event was one of the most important internal events ever organised for the workforce of Renault. It was an exceptional spectacle in a friendly and relaxed environment with nearly 60,000 people turning out to watch Fernando's demonstration.

Although the ING Renault F1 Team drivers have visited Guyancourt before to meet the personnel at the Technocentre, it was the first time that the R27 has done a demonstration there to entertain the workforce.

Renault was also keen to use the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of its champion by unveiling a commemorative plaque with an impression of Fernando Alonso's hands alongside his signature.

At the end of the demonstration Fernando Alonso said: "It was important for us to be here today. I hope the people enjoyed seeing the car and I am glad that I have been involved in such an event. The Roadshows are always a nice chance to meet the public, and I have enjoyed being here today."

The ING Renault F1 Team now concentrates on preparing for the next Roadshow, which will take place in Johannesburg in South Africa on the 27th of July.
