FOTA denies breakaway back on track
Saturday 27 June at 16:00 : Max Mosley on Friday suggested F1's new peace may a short-lived, with FOTA to possibly resurrect plans for a breakaway series.

The teams alliance, however, did not agree, insisting subtly that the agreement with the FIA is on track notwithstanding the fury of the Paris federation's president.

FOTA held a press conference in Bologna on Thursday, but the transcript was distributed only on Friday, at the same time as Mosley predicted more "short-term problems" for the sport, and after he wrote a furious letter to FOTA chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

John Howett spoke of a "victory for formula one", Flavio Briatore said the deal is "positive for the FIA, positive for F1", Mario Theissen hailed the Paris "breakthrough", and Christian Horner spoke of a "great day for formula one".

Also on Friday, Ferrari president Montezemolo appeared on the team's website and immediately insisted that "first of all I'm very pleased (about) the (FIA) agreement".

"I was not surprised because I understand the spectators are pissed off with all these polemics. We need stability. We need peace," the Italian added.

Montezemolo said Paris had hosted a "very good atmosphere (with) the FIA" on Wednesday.

"Now stop with all the polemics, because we love F1. We don't want to contribute to taking away the big charm and the unique elements of F1," he added
